Edinburg to host Amateur Jr. Boxing Olympics

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Edinburg announced it will host the 2025 Amateur Boxing Championships.

The city's news release said a total of 425 boxers, ages 8 to 16, are officially registered to compete. Participants hail from Austin, San Antonio, New Braunfels, Laredo, Corpus Christi, and the entire Rio Grande Valley.

Over 250 matches are scheduled, drawing in not only the young athletes but also an estimated 300 coaches, 50 STABA officials, and more than 3,000 spectators.

Mark your calendars for April 25 through 27 at the Edinburg Parks & Recreation Center, located at 315 E. Mark S. Peña Dr.

This premier youth sporting event is sanctioned by the South Texas Amateur Boxing Association and is expected to be the largest boxing event in South Texas this year.

Schedule of Events

  • Friday, April 25
  • Opening Ceremony: 5:30 p.m.
  • Bouts: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Doors Open: 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 26
  • Bouts: 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Doors Open: noon.

Sunday, April 27

  • Bouts: 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Doors Open: noon

General admission will be $12 per day, VIP seats will be $20 per day, and a three-day general admission pass will cost $25.
