EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The city of Edinburg and Hidalgo County have announced traffic and parking changes due to the upcoming construction of the Downtown Parking Garage Project.
Construction is set to begin in early November at the corner of McIntyre Street and North Closner Boulevard.
To ease construction, the lot will be closed to the public on Nov. 5, with construction starting Nov. 6.
One southbound lane of N. Closner Blvd. and a section of W. Kuhn St. will be closed to allow construction crews access.
Pedestrian traffic will be rerouted to N. 10th Ave., where sidewalks have been expanded for safety.

Temporary signs will guide pedestrians to the courthouse. Jurors and the public are directed to park in the L2 and L3 lots along N. Closner Blvd., with shuttle services available from lots A2 and A3.
The Valley Metro shuttle provides free transportation to the courthouse, operating Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The county is also constructing a new parking lot at N. 12th Ave. and E. Loeb St., and is expected to add 104 spaces by late December, weather permitting.
Valley Metro will include a stop at this new lot once it is completed.
Construction will take one year to complete in full in early 2027.
