Edinburg residents warned of scam emails soliciting money

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Scammers are allegedly targeting Edinburg residents by email.

If you have received an email from the city's Planning and Zoning Commission requesting payment for "Application Approval Fees" call the city of Edinburg to report the phishing attempt.

The city says this is not a legitimate communication form from Edinburg city officials.

If you receive a suspicious email such as the one described above, contact (956) 388-8204.

The city advises residents NOT to respond to or click on any links. Additionally, they ask that residents not send payment to these types of emails.
