Edinburg police celebrate retirees, promote new leadership

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Edinburg held a ceremony to recognize the promotion and retirement of long-serving members of the Edinburg Police Department.

The ceremony took place on Monday, where the department celebrated the retirements of Arturo Montemayor and Maurice Alleyne, as well as the promotions of Sergeants Aaron Ortiz and Rogelio Salinas Jr. to the Edinburg PD.

"Today, we had the opportunity to retire our 20 to 30-year employees and at the same time, we were able to promote new sergeants to supervisory roles in the department," said Jaime Ayala, Edinburg Police Chief. "It's just the time that we got to it all at the same time, so all of our department can come together and see a couple going out and see a couple taking new responsibilities."
