Edinburg police: Accused gunman taken into custody

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Police arrested a man accused of a shooting that left one person in critical condition.

Alan Grosso, 45, was arrested on Sunday for his involvement in a shooting that occurred on Aug. 7.

Background

Police responded to the shooting at the 3300 block of Colt Lane after receiving reports of gunfire in the area.

A responding officer was flagged down by a concerned neighbor who called 911 after they heard the gunshots and saw a blue SUV speeding off.

While checking the area, the officer saw a trail of blood near a carport.

Another person approached the officer and informed them that his friend had been shot in the chest and was taken to DHR Health.

The shooting victim was identified as 36-year-old Matthew Fraustro.

A preliminary investigation determined that Fraustro and the accused gunman knew each other and were involved in an argument over property.

A search warrant was executed at the apartment, where police located various kinds of narcotics and arrested one person on narcotics charges.

This is an ongoing investigation.
