Edinburg Parks and Recreation host 'Senior De Mayo'

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department hosted a "Senior De Mayo" event for the community.

The free event began at 9 a.m. on Friday at 700 S. Veterans Blvd for residents age 50 and up to enjoy the festivities.

"What inspired us to create the event is that there are not a lot of events for seniors and one celebration that could bring seniors in would be Cinco De Mayo," said Yolisah Rodriguez Program Coordinator for the Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department.

Attendees at the event were able to enjoy food, a sombrero decorating contest games, Loteria, arts and crafts and other Cinco De Mayo-themed activities.

The Parks and Recreation staff also included a low-impact group exercise activity.
