Edinburg Municipal Court to extend amnesty program

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Edinburg Municipal Court has extended its amnesty program for another month.

The amnesty program applies to those with a class C misdemeanor for parking tickets, speeding or public intoxication. The city will waive any fines of failure to appear, as long as the original citation amount is paid.

"It's not about arresting, it's about working with the community," said Maribel Vasquez, City of Edinburg Municipal Court Administrator. "It's about working with the individual to come in and take care of whatever they have."

The extension will last until May 31.
