FBI agents arrested an Edinburg man Tuesday who sexually enticed a 14-year-old girl on TikTok over a five-month period in 2024.

Jorge Salinas Guerrero, a U.S. citizen born in 1973, is charged with enticing or coercing a minor to engage in sexual activity.

The investigation began on April 11 after special agents with the FBI McAllen Violent Crimes Against Children Squad C-7 obtained information about the case from FBI agents in Connecticut.

The alleged activity occurred between July 13, 2024 through November 11, 2024 via TikTok and text messaging, according to a criminal complaint.

Investigators were able to uncover Guerrero’s phone number and linked it to the TikTock exchange with the minor.

FBI special agents obtained the sexually explicit correspondence that included messages and images, including two photos of the minor victim being completely nude, according to the complaint.

Agents also found a photo of Gerrero showing the child his genitals, according to the complaint.

Following his arrest, Guerrero confirmed the nude photo was him, confirmed his phone number and confirmed no other person had access to the phone, according to the complaint.

He made a first appearance Wednesday in McAllen federal court in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Juan F. Alanis, who ordered him temporarily held without bond pending a detention hearing that’s scheduled for Friday.
