EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An Edinburg H-E-B location is closed for the day after a car wrecked into the building Sunday, authorities say.
Police say the incident occurred at 1:30 p.m. when a car veered off the roadway at the intersection of 12th Street and Ebony Avenue and crashed into the north wall of an H-E-B store.
The driver of the red car allegedly ran a stop sign, police say. All five people who were in the car were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The building’s integrity was not affected, according to police.
ValleyCentral reached out to H-E-B for comment.
"For the safety of our Partners and customers, the store on 1212 S. Closner will be temporarily closed today," said Linda Tovar, H-E-B Director of Public Affairs. "We apologize for the inconvenience, and we are working to reopen soon."
No partners or customers were injured during Sunday's crash, Tovar stated.
