EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Edinburg, in partnership with the family of the late Wade H. Bliss, met at Cenizo Park for a special ceremony.

Monday's ceremony featured the unveiling of a historical marker commemorating Bliss's generous donation of the land that became Cenizo Park decades ago. This tribute spotlights his lasting impact and Edinburg's commitment to preserving its history.

"Today is about recognizing the Bliss family, the Moore family," said Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. "This park here, the land, was donated by Wade H. Bliss 91 years ago. There's a lot of history here as to what this family has brought to our city, even though we're a fast-growing city now, over 100,000 people, we can't forget to honor, recognize those who laid a foundation for our city."

The marker consists of 15 limestone boulders arranged for seating, with seven of them engraved in English and Spanish. These inscriptions honor the history and cultural heritage of the area.
