Edinburg CISD to hold conference for students after discovering water damage to elementary campus

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District is hosting a press conference to provide detailed information on where its students will be relocated following the discovery of damage caused by flood/sewage overflow at Canterbury Elementary School.

The conference will take place at 4 p.m. on Monday, at Canterbury Elementary School, located at 2821 W Canton Rd.

Overnight crews were working when they discovered the need for additional remediation in areas previously affected by a flood/sewage overflow, Edinburg CISD officials said in a news release.

District officials closed the school Monday following the discovery of the required repairs.

Later Monday, the district will discuss an outline of relocation plans for impacted students, confirm the continuation of classes in unaffected areas and explain the comprehensive safety measures that are being put in place.

The district will provide a detailed timeline of the discovery and decision-making to relocate students from impacted areas to Freddy Gonzalez Elementary School and the continuation of normal operations for unaffected classrooms at Canterbury Elementary School
