Edinburg CISD superintendent placed on administrative leave

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Mario H. Salinas, superintendent of schools with the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District, has been placed on paid administrative leave.

The announcement was made Wednesday evening during a special-called board meeting.

According to school board attorney Benjamin Castillo, the decision to place Salinas on administrative leave stems from previous incidents, including the recent lockdowns.

Edinburg CISD school board member Letty Garcia says the school district will hire an independent company to investigate the events of both lockdowns.

Salinas will be placed on administrative leave for five days.
