HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Eddie Treviño, Jr. announced he is seeking re-election for Cameron County judge.
Treviño, a Brownsville native, was first sworn in as Cameron County judge in November 2016.
In his tenure as county judge, Treviño has focused on economic development, infrastructure funding, border trade, and tax reform.
“I’m running for re-election as your County Judge because I believe our best days are still ahead,” said Judge Treviño. “Since I took office, we’ve made tremendous progress-and I’m committed to ensuring we keep moving forward together.”

Before serving as a county judge, Treviño served in the Brownsville City Commission between 2001 and 2003.
In 2003, Treviño sought election as Mayor of Brownsville and won his campaign, taking on the role for a full term until 2007.
In the past five years, Treviño's office has been a contact for information regarding COVID-19 and SpaceX activity.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the County Judge held weekly and often daily meetings to inform locals of the number of individuals who were sick and who had died of the then novel virus. Treviño also enforced mandates and spoke out about local practices during this time.
"I believe in our community. I believe in our potential," Treviño said. "We are no doubt experiencing unprecedented growth, and we have a great future with unlimited growth potential."
