Eagle Scout builds giant chess board for Sharp Elementary School

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Brownsville Eagle Scout created and donated a large-scale chess board to a BISD elementary school.

Jonah Garcia made and donated his final project to Sharp Elementary School, which he previously attended.

An Eagle Scout is the highest rank achievable in the Scouts BSA Program, where they learn and demonstrate leadership, spirit and service.

Eagle Scouts also participate in planning, organizing, leading and managing community service projects.

To commemorate the board, Garcia played the first game of chess against the students at Sharp.
