Drug sting reveals 4 pounds of meth near McAllen elementary school

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Two men are facing several drug-related charges after a drug sting near an elementary school in McAllen.

Noe Alejandro Villarreal and Eugene Salas Jr were arrested on charges of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone, jail records show.

On May 1, the McAllen Police Department Special Investigation Unit followed up on a drug investigation involving Villarreal, who was issued two felony arrest warrants, as well as a search warrant of his home, a criminal complaint stated.

According to the complaint, Villarreal's residence is located at the 2500 block of Hackberry Avenue, which is 313 feet from Alvarez Elementary School.

While at the location, officers saw Villarreal exit the home with a paper bag and he was taken into custody. Police searched the bag and found several plastic bags containing a crystal substance, which tested positive for methamphetamine.

When police searched the home, they found Salas inside the bedroom where there was additional drugs and paraphernalia. Inside the bedroom, investigators found Alprazolam pills, cocaine and more methamphetamine, the complaint stated.

In total, police seized 4.93 pounds of methamphetamine, 7.83 grams of cocaine and 106 Alprazolam pills.

Villarreal also faces four counts of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and Salas faces two counts.

Villarreal's bond was set at $45,000 and Salas' bond was set at $25,000.
