Driscoll Children's Hospital RGV marks one year anniversary

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Healthcare leaders joined on Thursday to celebrate one year since Driscoll Children's Hospital Rio Grande Valley officially opened to the public.

"We've had a successful year since we opened our doors in May of 2024," said Driscoll's Chief Medical Officer Ana Almeda.

In its first year, Driscoll RGV has treated over 20,000 children in the emergency room and performed over 5,000 surgeries.

"We've been really busy, and this is just an opportunity to thank the community for the support, for welcoming us with open arms," Almeda continued.

Matt Wolthoff, president of Driscoll Rio Grande Valley, anticipates the facility will continue to grow each year.

"We're going to continue to grow and expand, recruit the pediatric specialists that this community deserves and needs," Wolthoff said. "We're going to continue to strive to be the best we can to care for your children."
