SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A motorcycle accident on the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway left a 19-year-old man dead, authorities said.
The crash occurred Saturday evening in the westbound lanes of the causeway.
A preliminary investigation revealed a red Yamaha YZF-6 motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and rear-ended a grey GMC Sierra Dually truck, the Texas Department of Public Safety stated.
DPS identified the motorcyclist as 19-year-old Brownsville resident Alexander Gomez.
Gomez was transported to Valley Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
