The increased enforcement is part of its Operation Crash Awareness Reduction Effort (CARE).

CARE focuses on mitigating the number of drivers speeding, intoxicated, and violating other traffic laws.

According to DPS, troopers issued more than 59,521 citations and warnings during last year's Fourth of July enforcement campaign.
