BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Two people are in custody following a deadly pursuit with federal agents in Brownsville.

A pursuit took place at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday in Brownsville and ended on State Highway 4, east of N. Indiana Ave., after a Ford F-150 loaded with bundles of narcotics evaded U.S. Border Patrol.

Authorities say the Ford traveled at a high rate of speed westbound on State Highway 4, lost control, and collided with a truck tractor semi-trailer, just east of the intersection.

The driver of the Ford, 21-year-old Brownsville resident Yahir David Martinez, died at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that two other passengers in the crash were transported to an area hospital and are in the custody of U.S. Border Patrol.

The narcotics were seized by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

DPS Troopers are further investigating this fatal crash.
