DONNA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Donna Police have arrested two men involved in an officer-involved shooting Thursday.
The department's news release said that around 6 a.m., the officer had pulled over a yellow jeep believed to be stolen that was heading towards the Donna International Bridge.
As the officer approached the jeep, the driver began to accelerate aggressively to run the officer over. The officer reached for his weapon and discharged it.
The men fled, heading north on FM 493 with the officer in pursuit, who was joined by Texas DPS, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The chase ended in a nearby cornfield where the jeep was abandoned.
A coordinated search yielded the arrest of the two men, and they were taken into custody without incident.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
