Background

On Dec. 13, 2024, Hidalgo County deputies responded to an aggravated assault at the 3200 block of Geronimo Street in rural Weslaco.

Deputies say the incident began after the victim, identified as 41-year-old Isaac Martinez, was drinking with several men.

At some point during the night, Trevino's teenage daughter asked Martinez for money, which sparked an argument, according to deputies.

Trevino then allegedly confronted Martinez about his behavior towards Trevino's daughter, according to a previous ValleyCentral report.

Witnesses reported to deputies they saw Trevino hit Martinez multiple times in the face.

The ex-wife of Martinez then transported him to the 2700 block of Bustamante Street in rural Donna to seek help. When deputies arrived, Martinez was found unresponsive with a bloody shirt.

Martinez was taken to Knapp Medical Center for treatment and later transferred to a McAllen hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On Dec. 23, 2024, Trevino was arraigned and issued a $1 million bond.

On June 2, 2025, a bond reduction was issued.

Trevino remains at the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center on a $210,000 bond.
