Donna man gets 30 years for sexually abusing 11 year old on 'continuous basis'

DONNA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Donna man was sentenced to 30 years in prison Wednesday for sexually abusing an 11-year-old child, authorities announced.

Anthony Calderon, 21, was sentenced to 30 years after pleading guilty to charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child, indecency with a child and prohibited sexual conduct, according to a news release from the Hidalgo County District Attorney's Office.

On Sept. 27, 2019, deputies with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to an abuse allegation involving Calderon and a child. The investigation revealed that Calderon had sexually abused the 11-year-old on a "continuous basis," the release stated.

“The jury’s verdict tells the entire community that the sexual exploitation of children is a heinous crime that will not be tolerated in Hidalgo County,” said Hidalgo County District Attorney Toribio “Terry" Palacios. “I am thankful for the dedication shown by the prosecution team and our law enforcement partners in constantly striving to make Hidalgo County safer for children.”
