Domestic partner named suspect in fatal stabbing incident

MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man is detained in connection to a fatal stabbing, the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office announced.

At approximately 2:16 a.m. on Sunday, June 29m authorities responded to a stabbing at a residence located at the 6000 block of N. Bentsen Palm Drive in rural Mission.

At the scene, deputies found 49-year-old Armando Giovannotto suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to a news release from HSCO.

Witnesses identified the alleged suspect as the victim's domestic partner, 34-year-old Kevin Lee Gutierrez, who had left the scene.

At 4:55 a.m. deputies found Gutierrez at a residence in La Joya and arrested him without further incident.

Gutierrez was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment for cuts on his wrists and is currently under card.
