McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A probable cause affidavit provided details in the arrest of a family involved in a fatal auto-pedestrian crash.
Jose Luis Miranda Nava was arrested by McAllen police on a charge of collision involving death, jail records show.
His father, Jose Luis Miranda Garcia, his mother, Alma Delia Nava Resendiz and his sister Samantha Adilene Nava Miranda were each arrested on charges of failure to report a felony.
At 5:32 a.m. May 22, police responded to the 500 block of N. 29th Street in McAllen, where they found the lifeless body of Juan Carlos Garcia in the middle of the road. His injuries were described as "consistent with being struck by a vehicle," the document stated.
Detectives later located the vehicle involved, and the driver was identified as Jose Luis Miranda Nava. Miranda Nava told police that his mother was the passenger at the time of the crash, and that he notified his father and sister that he had struck a person with his vehicle and fled the scene, the affidavit alleges.
When detectives spoke with Miranda Nava's family members, they stated that they were aware of the collision.
Jose Luis Miranda Nava remains jailed on a $100,000 bond. His mother, father and sister remained jailed on $10,000 bonds.
