DHR Health, Texas Organ Sharing Alliance raise the flag for organ donation

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCental) — A flag-raising ceremony was held on Friday at the DHR Health Transplant Institute in honor of "National Donate Life Blue & Green Day".

DHR Health, along with the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA), celebrated donors and recipients and encouraged the public to become donors.

"There are more than 100,000 people across the United States waiting for life-saving organ transplants, and about 2,000 children are waiting for a transplant as well," said a physician. "This month is to raise awareness among the community so that folks in the community can register for an organ program. They can be living donors, or they can be deceased donors, meaning they can donate organs when they die."

As part of Donate Life America's National Donate Life Month, which is observed on the second Friday of April each year, the public is encouraged to wear blue and green and share the Donate Life message.
