MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Former Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate, Democrat Colin Allred, will be in Alamo on Saturday as part of his Unrig Texas Town Hall tour. The Valley is one of three stops the Democrat will make to provide Texans the opportunity to voice their concerns and hear about his plans.

On Saturday, August 16, at 1 p.m., the Unrig Texas Town Hall will take place at the Railyard 83 Icehouse, located at 106 N 9th St. in Alamo.

Allred is also anticipated to visit San Antonio and Houston as part of the Unrig Texas Town Hall tour.

Democrat Colin Allred is running again for US Senate in Texas

On July 1, Allred announced he is running again for U.S. Senate in Texas, challenging the opportunity to replace the seat of Republican Sen. John Cornyn, who is facing a primary challenge from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

The race is likely one of the GOP's most contentious contests of 2026.

Seven months after losing to Ted Cruz by nearly nine percent in the November 2024 election, Allred announced his comeback.

"Washington is broken and the system is rigged – and Texas families are paying the price," Allred said. "Today, I’m announcing I’m running for the U.S. Senate because Texans deserve someone who will fight for them. From working to lower costs to taking on corruption, I’m ready to be the fighter Texans deserve."
