SANTA MARIA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man’s body was found along the banks of the Rio Grande Sunday morning.
Cameron County Sheriff Manny Treviño told ValleyCentral the body is that of a Hispanic man, possibly in his late 20s.
He said investigators believe the man may have accidentally drowned. It’s believed the remains had been in the river for several days and were badly decomposed.
Trevino said there was no ID on the man’s body, but he did have several tattoos throughout his body. One tattoo on the right upper chest has the name Romina, and another on his left upper chest has the name Kylie.
The man had another tattoo, located on his right inner arm, with the name Claudia and a small heart.
The sheriff’s department is working with the consulate.
Anyone with information on the man's identity is asked to contact the Cameron County Sheriff's Office at (956) 350-5551.
