Deadly shooting in rural Donna: one person detained for questioning

DONNA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that took place in rural Donna.

At approximately 3:08 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, deputies responded to a shooting at a residence located at the 13000 block of Hermosa Vida Drive in rural Donna, according to a news release from HSCO.

At the scene, deputies found the body of a 20-year-old Hispanic man inside a vehicle on the property. Authorities say the victim appeared to have suffered from a gunshot wound.

A person of interest has been detained for questioning.

HSCO investigators are on the scene, speaking to witnesses and gathering evidence. The scene is currently active and ongoing.
