Deadline nears for flood damage and economic relief

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — FEMA and SBA representatives spoke about disaster relief for those affected by the March floods in the Rio Grande Valley.

Carmen Rodriguez from FEMA advises individuals to register at disaster recovery centers. Bring your ID and social security number, and a list of damaged items.

Javier Caltenco from SBA encourages visiting centers or applying online. Both agencies have disbursed significant funds and received numerous registrations.

They stress that individuals should apply regardless of perceived damage and clarify that hours and closures, including for Juneteenth, are available on their websites.

Deadlines for physical damage applications are July 22 and for economic injury, February 23, 2026.
