Dairy Queen to give free ice cream sandwiches on total solar eclipse day

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Dairy Queen is offering total solar eclipse fans a sweet treat ahead of Monday's celestial event that will make you say "That's what I like about Texas."

Dairy Queen restaurants in Texas are celebrating the April 8 eclipse by offering a free DQ Sandwich Treat.

The April 8 total solar eclipse will cross Texas for the first time in over 100 years.

Texas will be the first U.S. state to see the total solar eclipse followed by 14 states in the path of totality.

"For more than 75 years, DQ restaurants in Texas have been friendly, gathering spots where fans enjoy delicious treats and eats and create fond memories," Dairy Queen announced.

The free treat will be available at all participating Texas locations through the DQ Texas mobile app.
