Crews search for missing swimmer at South Padre Island

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Authorities are searching for a missing swimmer on Friday evening, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

At approximately 2:50 p.m., the Coast Guard says the US Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi received a call about a missing swimmer at South Padre Island.

The report describes the swimmer as a 20-year-old black male.

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for the swimmer by boat and helicopter. Local police, beach patrol, and EMS are assisting the search.
