County orders temporary road closures due to SpaceX test flights

BOCA CHICA BEACH, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr. announced a temporary road closure due to the upcoming scheduled SpaceX Starship test flight.

Treviño has ordered a temporary closure of access to Boca Chica Beach and State Highway 4 from FM 1419 (Oklahoma Ave.) to the entrance of Boca Chica Beach.

According to a news release from The Office of County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr., the road closures may be scheduled on the following dates and times:

• From noon to 10 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13
• From noon to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14 or
• From noon to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15

If SpaceX does not complete its planned flight-testing activity on Oct. 13, then SpaceX may use the alternative dates to complete its testing, the release added.

After the closure goes into effect, only authorized personnel will be allowed to remain between the hard and soft checkpoints.

Boca Chica Beach will be closed during the temporary closure.
