BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The ship channel where a shrimp boat capsized over the weekend has reopened with restrictions effective Tuesday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Two passengers were on board when the boat capsized Saturday morning.

A fisherman was reported missing in the incident, and a second passenger was rescued.

The U.S. Coast Guard has issued the following restrictions:

  • One-way traffic only is allowed, and only during daylight hours
  • Vessel drafts must not exceed 12 feet
  • All mariners must use the south end of the channel when transiting between mile markers 672 and 673 while recovery efforts are ongoing

The channel remains closed to vessels with drafts exceeding 12 feet until further notice.

As of Saturday evening, the U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search for the missing fisherman.
