MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Mission has appointed a new city manager.

The Mission City Council appointed Mike Perez as the new City Manager, during a city council meeting.

Mission City Manager announces retirement

”We are thrilled that Mike will be joining our team, and look forward to having him utilize his leadership and expertise to guide the city if Mission in a progressive and positive direction,” said Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza.

This comes after the previous city manager Randy Perez announced his retirement last week.

Mike has more than 40 years serving as a municipal city administrator in South Texas. He previously served as city manager for the cities of McAllen, Harlingen, Mercedes, and most recently, Weslaco, from which he retired in 2021.

In 2022, the Texas City Management Association awarded Perez its Lifetime Achievement Award.
