Child dead after being struck by vehicle in Pharr, police say

PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A child is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Pharr, police said.

On Friday at around 7:30 p.m., Pharr Police responded to the 700 block of E Eller St in reference to an auto-pedestrian accident involving a boy on a bike.

Preliminary investigation revealed a male driver was backing out of a driveway when he struck the child, police said.

The driver stopped and contacted 9-1-1. The child was transported to a hospital where he passed away, according to Pharr police.

The accident is still under investigation and no criminal charges are anticipated.
