EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Both the driver and motorcyclist involved in a deadly crash earlier this week disregarded a red light, Edinburg police said in an updated statement Thursday.

Police say they do not expect charges to be filed in the collision that claimed the life of 35-year-old Adrian Mario Garza of McAllen.

On Tuesday morning, police initially said Garza was traveling eastbound on Trenton Road when a black Chevrolet Malibu was traveling westbound on Trenton Road. The Malibu attempted to turn south onto McColl Road and allegedly failed to yield the right of way while turning left and collided with Garza, police said in a news release at the time.

Garza was transported to DHR with serious injuries. He later died.

While the case remains under investigation, Edinburg police say preliminary findings now indicate that both vehicles disregarded the red light, contributing to the collision.
