CCSO search for man in connection to Harlingen shooting that left 1 injured

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Cameron County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance in locating a man in connection with a shooting investigation.

Thomas Matthew Puente, 24, is wanted on the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a news release from CCSO.

On July 21, deputies responded to a shooting at a residence located in Whipple Lane, where a 25-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

The victim's condition is unknown.

Investigators learned from witness statements, Puente was last seen leaving the scene the day of the shooting, the release added.

Sheriff's investigators, alongside the Cameron County SWAT Team, searched for Puente on the same day the shooting took place, at his residence in Primera but were unable to find him, according to the release.
