CCSO: One arrested in gunpoint robbery, second suspect at large

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — One man has been arrested in Cameron Park for aggravated robbery while another remains at large.

At approximately 9:55 p.m. Tuesday, Cameron County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 2300 block of Magdalena Avenue in reference to an aggravated robbery.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the victim’s phone was taken at gunpoint by two men. One of the suspects had placed the handgun to the victim's head while demanding his cell phone.

The same suspect then discharged his gun once towards the ground to scare the victim into complying with his demands. Both suspects left the area with the victim's phone.

The suspects were identified as Juan Carlos Macias, 20, and Brian Rodriguez, 24.

Macias was located near the area and detained by deputies. He admitted to his participation in the robbery and was placed under arrest and taken to Carrizales Rucker Detention Center for arraignment. He remains jailed on a $50,000 surety bond.

The second suspect, Rodriguez, is still on the run. Rodriguez is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds with short black hair. He has the name 'Olga' and stars tattooed on his right forearm. His left hand is tattooed and he has a music note under his right ear.

Rodriguez is considered armed and dangerous.
