CCSO: Man arrested for stabbing brother, woman

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County deputies arrested a man accused of stabbing his brother and a woman.

Hector Almaraz Martinez, 26, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest/transport, according to a release from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office.

On Thursday, authorities responded to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, involving two separate victims at the 2300 block of Avenida Jeffrey where they spoke with several family members said Martinez stabbed his 32-year-old brother and a 54-year-old woman.

The woman had a deep laceration on her left hand after she attempted to keep both men separated, deputies say.

While speaking with the family, deputies noticed Martinez walked out of the second-floor room, that led to an open terrace. Authorities commanded Martinez to come down but he was uncooperative, the release stated.

Responding deputies went to the terrace and arrested Martinez. Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene and reported both victims with non-life threatening injuries.

Martinez was booked into the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center.
