CCSO: Father, son arrested for interfering with gunfire investigation

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A father and son were arrested after allegedly interfering with an investigation in Brownsville, authorities announced.

Rolando Yanez, 43, and his son Rolando Yanez Jr., 19, were arrested on multiple charges stemming from an incident on Sunday morning.

At 5 a.m. Sunday, deputies with the Cameron County Sheriff's Office responded to the 2600 block of Avenida Eduardo in reference to a call of shots fired. When they arrived, they spoke with witnesses who said a person shot multiple rounds from a specific residence.

When deputies attempted to make contact at that residence, both Rolando and Rolando Jr. allegedly interfered and obstructed the investigation, a news release stated. Deputies attempted to arrest the father and son, but they began physically resisting.

At this point, Rolando Jr. allegedly assaulted two deputies by punching them while they attempted to arrest him. Deputies deployed a taser and the two men were taken into custody.

Rolando Yanez was arrested on charges of obstruction/retaliation and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $12,500.

Rolando Yanez Jr. was arrested on two counts of assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest and interfering with public duties. His bond was set at $45,000.
