LAGUNA HEIGHTS, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Cameron County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in locating the suspect in a 2023 murder case.
Jacobo Hernandez-Hernandez, 42, is wanted for the murder of 27-year-old Christopher James De Leon, a news release from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office stated.
At 2:30 a.m. on July 25, 2023, deputies responded to the 200 block of Adams Avenue regarding someone being shot.
At the scene, authorities found De Leon's body with multiple gunshot wounds, a release from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office stated.
During the investigation, Cameron County investigators gathered several pieces of evidence, including surveillance video near the crime scene and witness statements.
The evidence and witness statements helped identify the suspect as Hernandez, the release stated. Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Hernandez on a charge of first-degree murder.
CCSO had obtained information that Hernandez may be hiding in Mexico but still has friends in the Port Isabel and Los Fresnos area.
Hernandez is considered armed and dangerous.
