CBP: $247K seized at Hidalgo bridge

PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Hidalgo Port of Entry seized $247,500 in unreported currency this weekend.

According to a release from CBP, officers found the concealed currency hidden within a white Nissan sedan on Saturday during an outbound examination.

The Nissan was heading southbound to Mexico. During a secondary examination, officers found 14 bundles of cash in the car.

The money wad seized by CBP and Homeland Security Investigations special agents initiated a criminal investigation.
