Catholic Diocese of Brownsville celebrates 60th anniversary with Mass, festivities

SAN JUAN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Bishop Daniel E. Flores invites the public to celebrate 60 years of the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville.

Festivities begin with a mass at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle – National Shrine.

"It's our 60th anniversary, it'll be a chance to give thanks to God for the many blessings we've received as people of God. We're here to give witness as we continue to ask the Lord's grace to give witness to the presence of Christ among us," said Bishop Flores.

Although the official anniversary was on July 10, the diocese has extended the celebration and welcomes the public to join in on the festivities.
