Car accident claims life of 1 year old in Edinburg

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office is investigating a vehicle accident that caused the death of a 1 year old.

According to a news release from HSCO, at approximately 11:48 a.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to the 8300 block of E. Canton Road in reference to an accident involving a child.

At the scene, authorities learned that a 1 year old had been hit by a vehicle and a family member took the child to the Edinburg Children's Hospital.

The child was reported dead at the hospital, the release stated.

This is an ongoing investigation.
