CAMERON COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — In an effort to help the community recover from Thursday's heavy flooding, Cameron County has announced it will be waiving building permit fees for flood-related repairs.
According to a news release from Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr., the building permit fees will be waived for 14 days.
“A great amount of our residents are focusing their efforts on recovering from flood damage rightnow, and waiving permit fees for flood-related home repairs is a positive action we can take to alleviate the stress and reduce costs to our residents who were affected by the unexpected flood waters,” said County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. in the release.
During the next Commissioners' Court meeting, held on April 8, an extension will be requested for the disaster declaration issued on Thursday, March 28, so the waived permit fees can be extended for a longer time.
