STARBASE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr. shared the 2026 Starbase Local Impact report on Wednesday.
The report, provided by SpaceX, shares the impact brought to Cameron County by Starbase operations, including Starship launches.
Since SpaceX's last report, there has been a reported increase in gross economic output, local jobs supported, indirect taxes, local suppliers, and local supply chain spend.
In a press release, Treviño attributes the economic growth to SpaceX moving its headquarters from California to Starbase.
"I thank SpaceX for choosing Cameron County as the home of Starship development and, more recently, moving their corporate headquarters to Starbase, Texas," Treviño said.
The 2026 annual gross economic market value of Starbase in the Rio Grande Valley increased to $13 billion, a 50% increase from its previous report.

The latest report also states that more than 24,000 local jobs have been supported, with a $305 million increase in indirect taxes.
"Their commitment to our region has transformed our local economy, from high-skill job creation to critical infrastructure improvements," Treviño said. While Starbase operates close to the coast, every city in Cameron County and the Rio Grande Valley shares in the benefits — stronger schools, more tourism, and new high-paying job opportunities."
