Cameron County beaches close temporarily due to high tide

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Several Cameron County beaches will be closed until further notice due to an active high tide in the Gulf.

The closures took effect Wednesday morning.

Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño ordered the closures on the following beach accesses.

• Boca Chica Beach
• County Beach Access No. 4
• County Beach Access No. 5/E.K. Atwood Park Pavilion
• County Beach Access No. 6

County beach access areas on South Padre Island, such as Isla Blanca Park, will remain open until further notice.

Visitors are advised to practice caution when visiting open beaches during high tide.
