Bundles of alleged fentanyl, cocaine seized in Mission

MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An investigation is underway after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized alleged bundles of fentanyl and cocaine over the weekend in Hidalgo County.

Federal officers seized approximately 24 bundles of narcotics during an inspection on August 3 at the Anzalduas International Bridge in Mission.

Through multiple inspections, officers found 14 packages of fentanyl and 10 packages of cocaine hidden within stationery bike rollers.

According to CBP, the narcotics have an estimated street value of $1.1 million.

"This seizure showcases our officers’ relentless efforts to secure the border and prevent dangerous drugs from reaching our communities," said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo Port of Entry.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is investigating the case.
