Brownsville Smart City project offers free laptops, backpacks

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — As part of Brownsville's Smart City Back to School Digital Skills Workshop and Laptop Giveaway, the city on Friday provided free laptops to qualifying local students.

Students who applied and qualified for a free laptop were notified and received their Dell Laptops and courtesy backpacks filled with school essentials, courtesy of NTT.

To receive the laptop, students must also take part in a digital skills workshop where students and parents will learn about email and phone safety, as well as Microsoft's Copilot program.
