The city of Brownsville will host CycloBia Christmas Edition, set to transform Palm Boulevard into a vibrant and festive car-free zone on Sunday.

For three hours, Palm Boulevard will be closed to vehicle traffic, allowing community members to walk, jog, cycle, or skateboard through 2 miles of open streets.

The event kicks off at the Belden Trail and extends to the Texas Southmost College ITEC Campus, providing ample space for participants to engage in a variety of healthy and enjoyable outdoor activities, the city stated in a news release.

CycloBia Christmas Edition will feature an array of attractions including:

>> Live performances by the members of the Revival of Cultural Arts (ROCA) Troop at East Jackson Street and Palm Boulevard.

>> A live appearance by Santa Claus, bringing holiday cheer to attendees of all ages.

>> Complimentary bike rentals available at the ITEC Parking Lot on Mexico Boulevard, with just a photo ID required for check-out.

>> Food and beverage vendors offering tasty treats and refreshments along the route.

>> Engaging activities designed specifically for children, ensuring fun for the entire family.

“CycloBia is more than just cycling; it’s about creating health and wellness awareness, enjoying our city and creating a sense of community,” City Commissioner Dr. Rose Gowen said about a CycloBia event held in September. “I want to encourage families, friends, and neighbors to come out and experience this fun and healthy event together.”

Brownsville has been hosting CycloBia events for several years, in which the city invites the community to engage in healthy outdoor activities.
